Bin Stores

A bin store is a metal enclosure that hides wheelie bins from view. Ours hold two or three standard 240L wheelie bins, with 1.5mm galvanised steel screens in seven colours on black aluminium posts. Each has an open top, so lids open freely, and a lockable hinged front door with a decorative fretwork pattern.

Wheelie bin storage that looks considered

Wheelie bins are usually the first thing you see at the front of a house. A well-made bin store keeps them together, out of sight and easy to use. Our wheelie bin storage combines galvanised steel screens and aluminium posts with fretwork patterns inspired by our decorative garden screens, so the bin area looks like part of the garden, not an afterthought.

Why choose a metal bin store?

Our metal bin stores combine two materials. The screen panels (the front door and both sides) are 1.5mm galvanised steel: galvanising adds a zinc coating that protects the steel against corrosion, and the panels are then powder-coated in one of seven colours. The 1120mm-high panels are carried on black 70x70mm aluminium posts, 1248mm tall, with end caps. Each size has one front door with a single key lock, supplied with 2 keys: the double’s door hangs on two hinges, and the triple has one wide door on three hinges.

There is no back panel: the store has a front and two sides, and is designed to stand against a wall or fence, with an open back and an open top. There is no lid to lift or link to the bins, so each bin lid opens freely inside the store and the bins can be filled without wheeling them out.

Choosing a double or triple bin store

Count the 240L bins you put out on collection day.

  • A double bin store holds two standard 240L wheelie bins. It suits households with a general waste bin and one recycling bin.
  • A triple bin store holds three standard 240L wheelie bins. It suits homes with separate general waste, recycling and garden waste bins.

Bin store sizes and dimensions

Overall sizes, measured to the ends of the base plates (W x H x D):

Bin store Holds Width Height Depth
Double (2-bin) 2 x 240L wheelie bins 1470mm 1250mm 950mm
Triple (3-bin) 3 x 240L wheelie bins 2100mm 1250mm 950mm

Measure the space where the store will stand, allowing room in front for the door to open. If your space is unusual, please contact us before ordering.

Bin screen or bin store: what’s the difference?

A bin screen is usually a single panel that hides bins from one side. A bin store encloses the bins. Ours sits between the two: it is a decorative bin screen at the front, with a lockable door and plain side panels, and an open back and open top, so it stands against a wall or fence and the lids stay free.

Patterns and finish

There are 15 fretwork patterns, each in a double and a triple size. They run from geometric designs, such as Brick, Rug and the N°195 stars, to natural motifs such as the N°223 palm leaf and the N°222 winter forest. Every pattern comes in seven powder-coat colours at no extra cost, from Anthracite Grey and Black to Cream and Pastel Green, always with black posts. For heat pump and battery covers, see Outdoor Covers.

What’s included

Each bin store arrives in parts: black aluminium posts with end caps and base plates, two plain side panels, the fretwork front door with its hinges fitted on one side, a key lock with 2 keys, and free anchor bolts for fixing the base plates to a hard surface. Below-ground posts are available for +£25 for the full set.

Frequently asked questions

What size wheelie bins fit in these bin stores?

Each bin store is sized for standard 240L wheelie bins, a common size for household bins in the UK. The double bin store holds two 240L bins and the triple bin store holds three. Both are designed around the standard 240L size, so the bins stand side by side with room for their lids to open through the open top.

Is the bin store lockable?

Yes. Each bin store has one fretwork front door with a single key lock, supplied with 2 keys. On the double the door hangs on two hinges; on the triple, one wide door hangs on three hinges. Locking keeps the bins secure and the door closed in windy weather.

How big is a triple bin store?

Our triple bin store measures 2100mm wide, 1250mm high and 950mm deep overall, and holds three standard 240L wheelie bins behind one wide, lockable front door. The double bin store is 1470mm wide, 1250mm high and 950mm deep overall, for two bins. Allow space in front for the door to open.

Do metal bin stores rust?

The front door and two side panels are 1.5mm galvanised steel. Galvanising gives the steel a zinc coating that protects it against corrosion, and the panels are then powder-coated in your choice of colour. The posts are not steel: they are black 70x70mm aluminium posts with end caps.

How can I hide wheelie bins at the front of my house?

The neatest way to hide wheelie bins is a bin store that matches the house and garden. Choose a double or triple store for your 240L bins, place it where bins are easy to wheel to the kerb, and pick a fretwork pattern that suits your frontage or garden screens.

What colours are available?

The door and side panels come in seven powder-coat colours at no extra cost: Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016), Black (RAL 9005), Chocolate Brown (RAL 8017), Cream (RAL 9001), Grey (RAL 7037), Pastel Green (RAL 6019) and White (RAL 9003). The aluminium posts are always black.

How is a bin store fixed down?

The aluminium posts have base plates that bolt down onto a hard surface such as paving or concrete, and anchor bolts are supplied free. Other fixings can be used depending on the location. For soft ground, below-ground posts are available as an option for +£25 for the full set.
